ABOUT ELAINE.

From the Beginning…

Life #1:
Elaine hails from Chatham, Ontario – the Maple City. She’s a farmer’s daughter – perhaps that explains the roots of her appreciation for fruits of the earth and aromatherapy. She worked for many years in the oil and gas industry in Ontario, but, as things do in life, they changed. An American corporation bought out her employer - and voila! She was out of a job! So, life is an adventure, is it not? Elaine chose to see it as an opportunity to grow wings - she packed her bags and moved to the wild and wonderful West!

Life #2:
Moving away from her home of many, many years (yes, she is that old) Elaine made big changes in many ways, one of which was into a different area of the oil and gas industry. She went from working in distribution to working in production for a mid-streamer in Calgary for a number of years, and she was published across North America in an industry publication for a time as well. Then, when she met up with a M-A-N worth moving for, his work in the mining end of the oil & gas industry brought her to Fort McMurray, Alberta and her next serendipitous life adventure.

Life #3: In her latest incarnation,Elaine works for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Parks, Recreation & Culture – a great place with great people doing lots of happy, fun work projects. So, how is it she chose to start up her own business – Beautiful Things Naturally – when she has a job she already enjoys so much? Passion is probably the best way to describe that decision, coupled with an inordinate amount of ambition she didn’t know she had.

Elaine loves a number of things.  These include beautiful things, aside from family members, of course, like jewellery, geology, fragrances, healthy choices (like essential oils), environmentally conscientious products (such as those offered by Metropolitan Aromatherapy), and PEOPLE in general.

Setting up the business of BEAUTIFUL THINGS NATURALLYwas not a long thought-out choice as much as it was something she fell into - naturally. She loves beautiful things, and she loves selling because it enables her to meet and interact with people regularly. It’s a natural fit!

On the business aspect, Elaine and Deborah Drummond (of Red Velvet Woman) met in September, 2009, and Elaine signed up that very day as a representative for Red Velvet Woman and its sister company, Metropolitan Aromatherapy. The quality of both the jewellery and the oils drew Elaine, as did the fact that Deborah is an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner, so she really knows her stuff when it comes to essential oils.

Ayurveda? Is the term familiar to you?

Elaine is a child of the ‘70’s – you know – the “peace, love and brotherhood” era, so she has been a “TM’er” since the early ‘70’s when The Beatles met the Maharishi, popularizing the practice of meditation here in North America. In the Western world most of us recognize the name “Maharishi”, but we don’t necessarily associate it with the science of Ayurveda. “TM” is one of the disciplines of this science, and essential oils, using nature’s bounty of herbs to heal and help ourselves, is a foundation for the science. So, with her business, Beautiful Things Naturally, Elaine hopes to share with you, the wealth of wellness that essential oils and Ayurveda offers.

Partnerships - Doing business, a great many folk approached and asked as they admired the luxurious, yet funky Red Velvet Woman gemstone jewellery, “Do you make this yourself?”

When they heard, “No, I don’t,” the next question was usually, “Is it made LOCALLY?” Elaine saw a little light glimmer and thought “...but it could be!”

So now, in addition to creations by Red Velvet Woman, Elaine represents local Alberta artisans Nicole Baxter of Nab Studios and Patricia Fris of Bejeweled.

Elaine looks forward to meeting YOU.
